Nanothinx is one of the first enterprises in Europe that specializes in the production of novel carbon nanostructures. The production methods used by Nanothinx are based on the synthesis of carbon nanotubes with catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD or CVD) of different carbon sources on substrates of metal oxides impregnated with metal catalysts.
In addition to carbon nanotubes, Nanothinx also offers R&D services on the process engineering of systems in which nanotubes are employed. Representative research projects are:
1) Surface modification and tailoring of the chemical functionality of carbon nanotubes towards polymer matrix structures, organic solvents and ceramics (resins, PVC, PMMA, DMAA, alumina) for use in high-strength applications and gas separations.

2) Development of a CNT-based artificial vector for in-vivo gene therapy (“NINIVE” STREP 033378, http://www.ninive-project.org).

3) Carbon nanotube-based substrates of nanostructured catalysts for use in PEM
fuel cells electrodes.
4) Development of MWNT-based resins with enhanced mechanical performance for use in grinding and polishing tools (Eurostars Project).
5) Fabrication of protective uniforms, incorporating multiple properties (flame retardancy, thermal stability, etc.) of nanoparticles such as CNTs, and designated for rescue teams under complex risky conditions met in various types of everyday emergency operations (FP7 project "SAFEPROTEX").
